Callaghan Live in America is the product of two shows - a Live Full Band show at Eddie Owen’s Red Clay Theatre just north of Atlanta and an acoustic session at the famous Quad Studios in Nashville. Speaking about the record Callaghan says:
‘It’s been a year since Life in Full Colour officially released. During that time I’ve been on the road a lot and also writing a lot of new songs. Some of those new songs have become part of my regular set and several covers have become firm favourites with show audiences.
I’m working towards my next studio album, but I really wanted to get some of the new songs people have been requesting out there. So I’m excited that this live album will let me do that. Thanks to all of you who come out to shows and support live music - I couldn’t do this without you! ”
Side A - Live On Stage - At The Red Clay Theatre
Recorded in October 2012, this sell out Atlanta show saw Callaghan playing with her band of accomplished Georgia musicians.
“I love playing with those amazing musicians. I don’t get to do full band shows often, but when I do it’s an opportunity to put on my leather pants and rock out!” says Callaghan.
“Recording a live show was a steep learning curve. I learned later that often when bands record a live album they pick the best tracks from a whole tour! We had just one night to do it, and a few things went wrong along the way, like broken guitars and monitors that were cutting in and out. I’m a bit of a perfectionist so hearing the tracks back for the first time I could hear a few things we might have re-recorded if we were in a studio, but I love the way these five tracks capture the energy and enjoyment on stage that night! We’ll be launching this record with another full band show - I can’t wait!”
Side A offers an extended, rocking rendition of Green Eyes, the first recording of Noah’s Song - a track which captures sentiments any parent will recognise - and the haunting, solo performance of Lost. It ends with an uproarious tribute to Johnny Cash.

Side B - Live in the Studio - A Nashville Session
Recorded in Spring 2013, this live acoustic session features Callaghan simply accompanied by a guitarist and violinist as they capture simple, stripped back versions of tracks which fans have requested from her live shows.
Callaghan says: “This was such fun to do, a few of us all played together in the studio and captured the songs in one or two takes. There are a couple of new songs which I wrote with great writers in Nashville which I'm really excited about. Growing up in the UK I used to hear Eva Cassidy’s version of Over the Rainbow on the BBC and I just loved it. It’s become a favourite song to perform at my shows so I was really pleased to have an opportunity to record it.
Often when I'm on the road I perform solo or with one or two players, this part of the album captures that live performance.”
These five songs put Callaghan’s vocal front and centre to deliver beautiful music for the listener.
